Follow the 6-step fire mission loop: 1) Read teleprinter orders, 2) Plot target on tactical map, 3) Calculate ballistic solution (range + bearing → elevation + charge), 4) Manually load shell and powder, 5) Gunlay to calculated bearing and elevation, 6) Fire and apply recon corrections. Trust the procedure, not your gut.

AP for armored bunkers, HE for general infantry and soft targets, HCHE for clustered formations, smoke for screening, star shells for illumination and correction, phosgene for area denial. The key is matching shell type to target — using HE on a bunker wastes the shot.

Fall back to your most recent firing card — it records the last successful elevation and charge settings for each range band. From there, manually interpolate for the new range. This is why keeping your firing cards organized is critical.
